We The Pizza - D.C.

During our stay in Maryland, my husband’s mother was in town to visit us and we decided to take her to D.C. to do the typical tourist stuff. For lunch I had a plan for us to head over to Pennsylvania Avenue in Capitol Hill and try former contestant of Top Chef Spike Mendelsohn’s restaurant, We The Pizza. He is the chef and owner but of course he was not there so I could say hello ;). You have the option of a slice or a whole pizza which is great if you have your heart set on more than one style. I was a bit skeptical ordering just one slice of each because each slice was not prepared to order; there were whole pizzas on display and all they needed to do was just heat it up. But I went ahead and ordered them any way and was happy I did. We ordered Pepperoni, Sausage and Peppers and Hawaiian Pies. As for Cast Iron Pies (deep dish) we tried The Sicilian and For The Greeks In Us. All were tasty the deep dish pizzas were quite filling (obviously) but I loved every slice. If I had to pick one as my fav it would have to be the sausage and peppers J. We also tasted the traditional wings, crispy and yummy. He has a variety of homemade sodas which I didn’t try because I’m just not that into it but I hear they are great. At the end of the day it was good pizza. We sat outside and noticed more than half of the tables were filled with people eating food from next door. The bags read Good Stuff Eatery, come to find out Spike owns this place as well and I can’t wait to check it out next time.
